July 13th 1977 David survived a crash at Silverstone from 173 km/h to 0km/h in just 66cm. He broke 29 bones and his heart stopped 6 times, He survived 179.8 G. That "record" was later broken by Kenny Brack who survived more then 200G
Killed in a biplane accident whilst performing aerobatics off the Sussex coast 1985. David where the only one who tried to help R Williamson when he crashed and died in flames at Zandwoort 1973, he was later awarded the George medal for his heroism.
