A crash at Montreal 1980 left him with badley broken legs. Jean-Pierre came back 1981 but had to retire mid season, he was far from fit. But in 1982 he was back in sports car racing. Became head of Peugeot's motor sport division 1993-1996. He has also been involved with Philippe Alliot's GT Team as technical director.
