During practice for the Austrian GP 1975 Mark hit the fencing and was thrown over the Armco after a tyre is thought to have deflated. At first Mark seemed ok but soon fell into unconsciousness, despite brain surgery he died three days later in Graz hospital. In the accident a marshal where killed and one where seriously injured.
