Derek is now a TV commentator on Grand Prix and Indy Car racing on Speedvision, and started a racing school at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 1996.
Derek's son Conor was linked with the ill-fated USF1 project 2010.
He currently (2017) competes in the IndyCar Series.
